Pench lies across two states and answers to two forest departments, which makes it the most exacting jungle we draw in — and the one we have returned to most often.
Tuli Tiger Corridor opened in 2011 and Tuli Veer Bagh in 2014. ITC WelcomHeritage Jungle Homes came between them in 2013. Resort Accord Wildlife opened in 2025, and Resort Sukalp at Sillari the same year.
Pench straddles the Maharashtra–Madhya Pradesh boundary, so what a visitor experiences as one forest is two forest departments and two sets of buffer-zone rules. Working out which applies where is most of the early work on any plot here.

Two departments and one forest means paperwork is half the opening months. Keeping architecture, structure, MEP, fire fighting, interiors and landscape under one roof is what lets a scheme change shape to suit a ruling without three consultants renegotiating their fee.

Questions About Pench.
Which side of Pench do you work on?
Both. Most of the work here sits on the Madhya Pradesh side, and Resort Sukalp is at Sillari, in Maharashtra. The rules differ and so does the paperwork.
How far is Pench from your studio?
Under two hours from Nagpur, which is the closest of the four reserves the practice works in and the reason the record here is the densest.
What is the hardest part of a Pench project?
Establishing what the relevant department will permit, and doing it before money is committed to a design. After that, the building season — everything has to be scheduled around a monsoon that closes the site.
Do you design the interiors of jungle resorts too?
Yes, and the landscape and the services with them. On a site this far from a city, splitting those across separate consultants produces a resort that coordinates on paper and not on the ground.
