Red-roofed cottages threaded into standing forest at Pench — the first Jungle Homes, and the project Radisson Jungle Homes at Tadoba grew out of.

The cottages are set among the existing trees rather than on a cleared pad, so the roofs read from the air as a pattern in the canopy and from the ground barely at all.

Public areas are open-sided and shaded; the pool sits in the one clearing the site already had.

Iravat Infraventures commissioned this in 2013 and came back twelve years later for Jungle Homes at Tadoba — the project that won the iDAC Infinity Award for 2025–26. Two resorts for the same developer, in two different tiger reserves, a dozen years apart.

Setting cottages among standing trees rather than on a cleared pad changes the whole method. The survey has to record trunks as well as levels, the plan is negotiated around them individually, and the structure has to be buildable in pieces small enough to reach a plot without a haul road cut through the canopy.

Building the pool in the clearing the site already had is the same principle applied to the one element that cannot be dispersed. In a buffer zone, what may be removed is decided by the forest department, so a plan that needs less removed is a plan that gets approved sooner.
