The property that fixed the ancient-Babylon theme as the group’s architecture rather than its decoration.
Domes mark the arrival and are lit from within at night, so the building reads from the road before any signage does.
Inside, a full-height atrium is hung with a single crystal chandelier that falls through the whole section — the room the hotel is remembered for.
An atrium that runs the full section is a fire-engineering decision as much as an architectural one. Smoke has to be managed in a volume that connects every floor, and the escape routes have to work without depending on it.
It is also the room that sells the hotel. A guest remembers the volume they walked into, not the corridor they walked down, which is why the section here is spent where it is. Babylon Hospitality had been building with us in Raipur since 1999.
