An expansion that doubles the flagship property from 100 to 200 rooms and rebuilds its facade in full.
We completed the original Hotel Babylon International in Raipur and have since built four more hotels for the Babylon Hospitality group.
The new frontage reinterprets the ancient-Babylon theme that has defined the brand since the beginning, in a more contemporary material and detailing language — carrying the identity forward rather than replacing it.
Doubling a working hotel is a different problem from building one. The existing structure sets the grid the new rooms have to sit on, the services have to carry twice the load without the plant moving, and the property has to keep trading through all of it.
The original set is ours, which is the difference between drawing an expansion and reverse-engineering one. Rebuilding the frontage in full at the same time lets the older half and the new half arrive as a single building rather than as an extension bolted to a facade.
