Interiors move between indoors and out through arched portals and columned galleries.

A courtyard of geometric patterned stonework with an illuminated fountain forms the heart of the property; an indoor pool pavilion crowned with circular skylights closes it.

Amravati carries six named hotels by this practice since 2011, and Hotel Aurtus opened in 2026. Aurtus Hospitality commissioned it as a first-time client, in a district where the studio had already built for two other groups.

Arched portals and columned galleries are a way of making the transition between inside and out gradual rather than abrupt, which in this climate is a comfort strategy before it is a compositional one. Shaded intermediate space is usable for most of the year in a way that neither a sealed interior nor an open terrace is.

A courtyard at the centre of the plan does the same work the wada does in this region's older buildings: it gives every room around it something to face that is not another room, and it moves air through a deep building without relying entirely on plant.
